What does it do?
A Gantt-style workforce visualisation that plots every active employee as a horizontal bar from their start date to today, colour-coded by team. It turns hire dates and length of service into an instant picture of who joined when, how long each person has been with the company and how hiring has evolved over time.
What's inside?
The view covers the full tenure picture, from company-wide hiring trends to individual milestones:
- A header summarising headcount in scope, new hires in the recent period and employees with 5 or more years of tenure, with badges marking both groups on each row.
- A sort control to reorder by start date, tenure length, team or name, plus a team filter to narrow the view to a single department.
- A hiring trends by quarter bar chart showing how many people were hired each quarter across the company's history, making growth waves, hiring freezes and ramp periods immediately visible.
- A colour-coded team legend with current headcount for each team.
- The main timeline grid with one row per employee, their team colour bar spanning from start date to today, and star icons marking 5 or more year tenure milestones.
When should it be used?
Pull this up whenever you need to understand your workforce through a tenure lens. It's useful for retention analysis, spotting cohorts approaching key milestones like one, three or five year reviews or vesting cliffs, and planning recognition programmes and service awards. During org design and succession planning it shows which teams have a healthy mix of new and experienced staff.
